Bill Cullen was probably the most intelligent host or panelist ever on TV game shows. And he did it all with great humor and friendliness. He gave the utmost respect to every one he encountered. I greatly admired him and wish he were still with us. We won't forget you Bill!

According to Wikikpedia, Bill was a pilot in WWII. This does not appear in the biography on this site. I recall seeing him have to sit out a contestent on To Tell The Truth because he flew will Bill. I recall that he was a flying tiger. Can anyone confirm this?

Every since I was young I wanted to meet Bill.He seemed to be just a regular guy with a good sense of humor, intelligence and openess(Right, "regular"!) But he didn't have those 'Hollywood' good looks like Bob Barker or didn't seem as a circus ringleader like most gameshow host. His demeaner was as if he was saying"Look, I want to give you this money but I got to ask you some questions first!" When people answered the question correctly, he was happy too! I also noticed some host acted different towards people of color. Going into a Kingfish accent sometimes when speaking to Black people or saying things like "you could buy a lot of tacos with that money!" (I understand why Whites would not have notice it. That type of 'institutional racism is subtle.In fact there is still some of it on TV today.) Bill seemed to treat everyone with the same friendliness and respect. I watched him grow old as I grew older. I didn't like it when, in his later years, he wore those glasses that would make his right eye look out of alighnment with his left eye. It was like when a good friend wears a tie that looks bad on him.

Bill, quite simply, was way, way, way ahead of his time. His wit was wonderful, his intelligence intimidating. Good looking young man, too. Seeing him on GSN Network is a treat. Wonderful! God Bless you, William. You're amazing

I was watching a show on GSN recently and there was a teacher on from Altoona PA which quickly got my attention.. This prompted Bill to begin to discuss growing up in a nearby small town called Patton PA before moving to Pittsburgh.. I believe he said his family worked in the coal mines or maybe he was commenting on Patton being a coal mining town but I was curious as to why there is never any mention of Bills early years growing up in Patton PA especially since it's been documented on the air by Bill himself and apparently he was proud and willing to discuss this subject... I've just discovered your website. What a wonderful tribute to one of tv game show's most popular and beloved MC's. I just wished that I had meet Mr.Cullen, when he was still with us. Whereever he is now(Crying) I hope that he knows that he still has a fan in me.
