As a 50something male, I fondly remember all the games shows of the 60's and 70's. I guess you could have called me a game show junkie, I watched them all. But, no matter what the game show was, if it had Bill Cullen as host, it made it something special. Bill Cullen being that far down on that GSN special was insulting. He was a professioonal no matter if he was the host or the guest on a show. He also had a mischievous streak in him, especially when he was on password. He was probably one of the best host-game players of all time.

WHEN GSN SHOWED THE TOP 10 GAME SHOW HOSTS RECENTLY, I WAS APPALLED THAT BILL FINISHED 7TH BEHIND REGIS. NO OFFENSE AGAINST OLD REEGE, HE DID A GREAT JOB ON MILLIONAIRE, BUT LET'S FACE FACTS FOLKS, WHEN YOU HOST 23 GAME SHOWS IN A CAREER THAT SPANNED 5 DECADES LIKE MR BILL DID, YOU DESERVE TO BE IN THE TOP 3 AT LEAST. WE ARE FOREVER GRATEFUL TO HAVE KNOWN THIS WONDERFUL MAN, THE PRIDE OF PITTSBURGH. EVEN THOUGH HE'S BEEN GONE OVER 16 YEARS, AT LEAST GSN IS NICE ENOUGH TO SHOW CHILD'S PLAY & BLOCKBUSTERS. I was 17 when Bill Cullen died and I know that we still miss him after all of his time now. He had a great personality and I was a big fan of his since Child's Play.

The Game Show Network recently listed the top 10 game show hosts. While Bill made the top 10, I was disappointed that he wasn't No. 1. I grew up in the early days of television, and to me, Bill was the consumate host, the consumate gentleman, a man who never let his celebrity interfere with his ability to make people feel at ease. Bill still lives in my memory and the memory of all those who invited them into their homes via the screen.
