I have always been a fan of Bill Cullens. I hadn't seened it written anywwhere he was a patient at the Crippled Children's Hospital Hospital
in Memphis Tennessee. I know this because my mother was there too. She also had Polio and remember him fondly as a funny little cut up.

I'm writing from Bill's hometown (and mine), Pittsburgh, PA. Although he is no longer with us, Bill was one of, if not the best, hosts around. He didn't need some blonde bimbo to help him carry the show -- he made the job so effortless. Some time after Bill's untimely passing, a columnst for our local Catholic newspaper did an excellent tribute. I do believe that the writer, who would not have been caught dead watching a game show, would, if he tuned in, have been for an absolute TREAT!

Didn't Bill once upon a time host a children's show in the late '50-early '60s called "Engineer Bill's Roundhouse" on the RKO TV stations (KHJ/Los Angeles; WOR/NYC; WRKO/Boston and WGN/Chicago)? The pretense of the show had a lot to do with safety around the tracks, and featured Bill -- in full engineer regailia -- operating a model railroad.

Hi,
I visited your site devoted to a man who was, indeed, the most casual and honest of the game show hosts. I recall seeing an episode of Hot Potato, in which Bill, by accident, pressed the winning music cue button and said words to the effect of "I'm sorry, I hit the wrong button by mistake".
I'd like to correct a mistake involving Bill's appearance on the television series CAPTAIN KANGAROO; he first appeared on the show on January 26, 1977, which re-aired on 6/10/77 and 3/6/78. I belong to the CAPTAIN KANGAROO group on Yahoo, and there is a nice black and white photo from this episode posted in the photos section.

Just a class act and a real inquireing mind. Pure fun loving Genus.Fun ti watch the gleam in his eye when he'd think of a prank to play on a fellow panellist on I.G.A S. Or when something funny came to mind when he hosted other shows such as blockbusters.

It was great seeing Bill in a "Child's Play" clip recently on NBC's "Most Embarrassing Moments". Bill interviews a 6 year old boy who talks about his many girlfriends, including one who is 30. A great moment to see 20 plus years since the show aired and 17 years since Bill's passing. I believe Bill connected in some way to Peter Tomarken in connection with Hit Man. Anyone have information on that.

I loved most of Bill's shows. It's too bad he never really had any big hits after The Price is Right. Blockbusters really should have lasted longer.
