Oops...sorry! I stand corrected--it was TwoInchQuad who said he did the WML? visuals in color, not you. Still would love to see them made public someday.

Hey, thanks for that great colorized Jeopardy! pic with the classic hosts. I'd sure love to be able to see the colorized WML? opening and art slides from '66-'67 you did. I too, hope someone with enough time and patience can give those last season kinnies the treatment you mentioned on the board.

He made the quests and even the TV audience comfortable with the game, almost like being there. He has been missed, good thing for the GSN.

All of the sloppy-dressed, screaming nuts who are contestants of today's TPiR only prove that it can't hold a lighted match to the classy original competitive game. Bill Cullen not only gave it class, he made it one of the truly funniest shows on television. Like many people, I was devistated when ABC cancelled TPiR (the ratings were still high and on an upswing. The explanation seems to be more that ABC was trying to unload the Ritz Theatre and had no other studio in which to house it in New York). Bill's ridiculous wind-up toys during the ticket and promotional announcements were hysterical and it was great hearing Jack Clark and Johnny Gilbert crack up. He carried this routine across to "Eye Guess" which I saw taped at 30 Rock twice (the games from New York were better, had more lively audiences, and more spontaneous than the boring, rehearsed junk from Los Angeles today). Bill's banter with the audience during commercial breaks was a riot. "Eye Guess" was a great follow-up to price, as it was another Bob Stewart game (this time under his own production moniker) and was based on a TPiR bonus game. I also loved Bill as a panelist on Garry Moore's "To Tell the Truth." Let's not forget, "I thought number one's answers were dead on, but number three really convinced convinced me that she was the one, so that's why I voted for number two." And after sampling food pouches made for NASA astronouts: "I understand why they are referred to as our BRAVE and valued astronauts."
Bill, if you were up for bids, we'd all be bidding higher and never freezing forever, beacuse you were priceless. Bob Barker may have hit the jackpot with the revamped version of your best game, but to those of us who grew up with you, "The Price is Right" is forever yours. You are sorely missed.

When I was growing up in Michigan I used to have two imaginary playmates that i would sit and have tea with. One was radio announcer Jimmy Launce from WJR in Detroit. The other was Bill Cullen. I have no idea why other than that both were such familiar names in our house that it seemed they were a part of the family. I can remember yelling at my Mom one day when she sat down at my little table because she had sat on Bill Cullen's lap!
After I had grown up I did have the opportunity to share that story with Jimmy Launce, who got such a kick out of it. I dearly wish I could have also had the chance to share the story with Bill himself but somehow I think he would have gotten a good laugh out of too.
Hat's off to you Bill and thanks for being a part of my growing up years.
