I remember watching many of the game shows from the mid '70's to mid '80's. I was always a fan of Bill Cullen. He was hands down the best host ever. His show Hot Potato kept me entertained while I was stuck in bed with a broken leg in the winter of '84. One memmory I have is of Dick Clark congratulating Bill on quitting somking when he was on his final tv appearence in 1987 on the Pyramid. That little quirp always sticks with me for some reason.

Matt, this site is one that has obviously been done with much love, respect and reverance for a much deserving gentleman. Bill was truly the kindest, most unpretencious male panel member and game show host there was. And what a sense of humor in spite of his health problems. Thank you Matt for taking time to honor this all-around wonderful man. You have done a fabulous job and have certainly spent a lot of time studying and reading all about your idol so that we can enjoy learning more also!

What a guy he was! I remember watching all the old gameshows in the '70's with my grandmother. That's why I love watching the reruns on GSN so much. It brings me back to a happy, simple time - I really miss those days. Bill Cullen was always there, with his quick sense of humour and warm, cheerful manner. Hearing his voice even today, reminds me of that wonderful era. I really wish he was still with us - but then again, I guess he is. We're fortunate to have him visit us via the GSN. I'm sure that there's a helluva game show going on in Heaven. Imagine the all star panel! Bill Cullen, Gene Rayburn, Garry Moore, Larry Blyden, the list goes on and on. Will there ever be game show hosts and panelists like these guys again? Can't see it happening.

A friendly personality, a cheerful smile and a friendly wave. That's how I'll always remember Bill Cullen. As a child of the '70s, I don't think there was a single season I didn't see Bill as host or panelist on a game show. Seeing his obituary ten years ago was almost like being hit in the stomach. But I'm grateful for having seen his work, and for having a couple of his shows on tape.

Bill's sense of humor was second to none. Case in point, a player on "Blockbusters" selected the letter K on the board. Bill's reax before reading the question, "K. That's a good letter. Just as long as you don't string too many of them together."
Bill died July 7, 1990. Exactly 24 days later, my grandfather died. And my grandmother and I were big fans of both.

Bill Cullen unfortunately passed away on my sixth birthday, and he is, in my opinion, one of the greatest emcees ever to grace radio and television. Our prayers continue to go out to him, even ten years after his passing.
