Favorite Bill Cullen Show: Eye Guess

Comments:
I was a contestant on the "Eye Guess" show in September of 1966. It was one of the great experiences of my life. Bill was great, and made every contestant comfortable with his easy way and great sense of humor. I won my game and went through the entire bonus board, so I won $100.00, seven great prizes, and a new car. The contestant before me won everything too, so when I got down to two numbers, 3 & 8, one of which said stop, during a commercial break, Bill bet the camera man $5.00 that I woudn't win the car. He lost! I have the letter I received from the "Eye Guess Company", along with a copy of the $100.00 check, framed and it hangs on the wall above my desk at work. Thanks for bringing back all those wonderful memories.

Favorite Bill Cullen Show: I've Got a Secret

Comments:
Thanks to GSN and its "B&W Overnight", Bill Cullen is a welcome guest on my TV screen every morning...I have several episodes of "I've Got a Secret" on tape and enjoy watching them over and over again. Bill was, without argument, the greatest game show host ever.

Favorite Bill Cullen Show: Blankety Blanks

Comments:
I loved seeing Bill firstrun on a lot of shows, like "Three on a Match," the '70s "To Tell the Truth," "The $25,000 Pyramid" and "Blankety Blanks," all of which I saw first run. My favorite memory of his (man, I'm going to be embarrassed if I remember this wrong) was when he was a celebrity guest on "Password Plus" around 1979 or so. Allen Ludden mentioned that it was someone's birthday, possibly a contestant, but they couldn't sing "Happy Birthday" for copyright reasons. Then Cullen piped up and said "Hey, *we* won't have to pay it, Goodson-Todman will!" then led everyone in singing "Happy Birthday." At the end of the show, Mark Goodson comes out and tells Cullen, Ludden and whoever the female celebrity was that week (I want to say Patty Duke) that they would be splitting the royalty costs. Bill was an old-school broadcaster, the kind who made you think of adjectives like "smart" and "trustworthy" more than "cute" or "slick." I miss him and miss his school of hosting.

Favorite Bill Cullen Show: T4

Comments:
I have many Bill favorites, but I have been watching a lot of the T4 episodes from the late 60's and 70's. I believe Bill was at his best here; more personality came out in his role as panelist. I just finished the show that became Gary Moore's farewell. Gary asked each panelist for a particular reflection on the series and Bill told the audience he enjoyed the show because, unlike any other show he was involved in, this required no preparation. We saw the genuine Bill in all his appearances.
