I looked at the slave schedule and will of the owners of Rachel Frank Baldwin's mother and the mortality records in the county. I can't imagine what our ancesters especially the women had to endure. I had to take a second look at what was taught to me about our history and the real history. Sonya have your researched the roll of african americans in the Civil War in Bladen, Robeson, Columbus and surrounding counties. I would like to share my records with you to broaden your search. Catherine Baldwin is the daughter to the late Frank Baldwin, my great-great grandfather. She can be found on the 1880 census. Mrs. Annie Dora Mitchell-Chancey is the grand daughter of Mary Catherine Baldwin. I am lookingh for "All" the decendents to the Late Frank Baldwin who owned quite a bit of land in the Columbus County area.
