My family are from the Marley and Goss from Whiteville, NC (Columbus County). They are from the Mt. Olive Community. During slavery it was called the Tatom (or Tatum Township). I would love to find information about my ancestors.

My comment is actually a question? My grandmother, Henrietta Hudson (Small) was born in Sandy Field and I'm not sure if this is Bladen County or Columbus County. The family tree is designated Hudson/Brown? I want to do an historical piece on my grandmother's family but I can't locate the history. What do you kno? Thanks, Martha S. Jones

I am one of Ms. Lena Dixon Neil's Great Grand Son's. This wonderful site you've put together reminds me of her and the times I've spent visiting her and Papa Dudley at there home about a mile up the road from the Oakland Plantation. I plan to take my children to see the plantation and there Great Grand Mother Jerlin Neil Smith, Mama Lena's daughter. I will share this site with my family. Great Site!!!
