Comments: Looking for info on a buddy of
my dads who trained as Corpsman at Naval
Hospital San Diego with USN from June to
September 1944, also graduated USN Boot
Camp San Diego May 27, 1944, Company
44-290. His name: Walter Clyde Smith,
went by "Clyde". Never heard from after
war. From Texarkana (Texas or Arkansas).
He went to Henderson College in
Arkadelphia, AR from 42-44. Attended 1st
Baptist.
Anyone that might have the time and
resources to help me determine what
happened to him, or if he is still
alive, will be greatly appreciated. 3
Years of looking, and brick walls. Can
anyone assist? Sunday, August 11th 2002

I was friends with Allen in the eighth and ninth grades and always appreciated his attitude about life. I remember when he was killed and my folks had gone to make a condolence call on his folks. He was really something special and I am not surprised that he died saving someone else's life.
